Jean Elizabeth Lagow

October 31, 1949 ~ August 4, 2017 (age 67) 67 Years Old

Jean Elizabeth Lagow, 67, lifelong resident of Anahuac, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4, 2017 in Winnie, Texas. She was born a twin daughter to Joe and Elizabeth Barrow Lagow on October 31, 1949. Jean attended elementary school at the Pine Island school and graduated from Anahuac High School class of 1968. She graduated in 1972 with her Bachelor’s Degree from Lamar University in Beaumont. Jean was a devoted educator for Liberty ISD for 30 years, teaching in areas such as Home Economics, Consumer Science, Desktop Publishing and Computer Science. She retired from LISD in May 2004 and worked from 2009-2011 with Goose Creek ISD. Jean had a strong passion and love of teaching. She was well liked by all her students, some would come back years later to visit her classroom.

Jean was a member of the First Baptist Church of Anahuac and a Lifetime Member of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA).

Jean was super witty and extremely funny. She loved pulling pranks on others and especially on her twin sister Janet. She was devoted and dedicated in everything she did, a loving and caring daughter, sister, teacher and friend to many who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Jean loved the great outdoors and all of God’s creatures. She relished the ranching lifestyle, showing her horses and cattle and raising her chickens. Jean also enjoyed vegetable gardening. She was always so passionate about the simplest things surrounding her.

Jean’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Magnolia Place in Liberty and to the Arboretum of Winnie for the special care she received from them all.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Ralph and Don “Donnie” Wesley Lagow; and her devoted fur-babies. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving twin sister Janet Lagow and husband Chip Lewis, his son Reg Lewis and family; her sister-in-law Wanda Lagow of Dayton, her daughters Donna Beth Lagow and wife Christina, Meredith Stoesser and husband Neal and family; her sister-in-law Sally Lagow Cantrell of Anahuac, her sons Ralph Langley Lagow and wife Lynnette and children, Randy Lagow and wife Andrea and children; her special and dear friends Maci and Edward Whittington and their children; along with a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Mick, Gene Campbell, Bob Campbell, Chris Campbell, Tim Wolfford and Steve Fitzgerald.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Anahuac, 405 Magnolia Ave S, Anahuac, TX 77514 with Trey Clark officiating. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Jackson Cemetery in Double Bayou. The attire for the services will be casual dress.
