Jean Alice Reese Hildebrand, 87, of Anahuac, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in Baytown, Texas. She was born on March 5, 1929 in Houston, Texas, the daughter of George and Juanita Reese. She graduated in 1947 from Waco High School. Jean attended St. Paul’s Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1950 as a Registered Nurse. After graduating, she spent three months in a psychiatry special study in New Orleans, Louisiana. On September 29, 1950, she was united in marriage to her loving husband Byron Neil Hildebrand. They moved to the Anahuac area in 1972, where she resided for 34 years. Since 2006, Jean has resided in the Baytown area.

Jean was active in the communities that she lived. In 1960, the Hildebrand family was Named Outstanding Community Family by the Port Arthur Junior Chamber of Commerce. She served as Administrator, Director of Nursing, Board of Trustees, Interim Administrator and Volunteer for Hospital Auxiliary for the Chambers County Hospital District No. 1. In 1991, Jean was honored for her commitment to the hospital district. She was also a member of the Anahuac Chapter O.E.S.

Upon retirement, Jean sewed and sold over 200 stick-horses benefiting Bayside Community Hospital and the Chambers County Learn to Read program, for which she was a volunteer teaching adults in the community to read. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband Byron Neil Hildebrand; her parents; and grandmother Sarah Alice Reese. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son Byron Neil “Butch” Hildebrand, Jr. and wife Susan; her daughters Sandra Timmerman and Lisa Harris and husband David; her grandchildren David Shearer and wife Sandra and Shanna Street and husband Michael; her great-grandchildren Ashley Shearer, Christopher Shearer, Jessica Holub and husband Justin, Stephanie Street, Miranda Street, Jason Street and Mikayla Street; her great-great-grandsons Bryson Shearer and Callahan Holub; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Scott Harris, Rodney Kader, Rick Pearson, Christopher Shearer, Michael Street and Donnie Waits. Honorary pallbearer will be David Shearer.
