Douglas Wilford Stevenson, 58, of Trinity, Texas, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2017 in Huntsville, Texas. He was born on September 3, 1959 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to William Roy and Carol Orlena Hunt Stevenson. Doug graduated from Anahuac High School in 1977 and following graduation he joined United States Air Force, proudly serving his country as a Staff Sargent.
After leaving the military, Doug began his career as a network engineer, working for various companies over the last 40 years. He had been working with Windstream the past two years until his death. Doug was an intelligent man who really enjoyed working with computers and doing mechanic work.
Doug loved people, he was always happy, loud and larger than life. He had the most infectious belly roaring laugh. Doug would always use his favorite phrase with a deep growl, “Wuzzzzzz Up?” He was an avid listener of heavy metal. Some of Doug’s favorite metal bands included Metallica, Korn and Limp Bizkit. He was also a religious man who truly loved the Lord.
Doug was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his children Cari Knight of Moore, Oklahoma, Amber Williamson of Del City, Oklahoma and Joshua Wardle of Bethany, Oklahoma; his grandchildren Robert Knight, IV, September Knight, Harleigh Maddox and one on the way; his siblings David W. Stevenson of Dayton, Texas and Nancy Shempert and husband David of Walton, Kentucky; his niece Jamie Stevenson; his nephew Kristopher Stevenson; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 2pm on Friday, December 1, 2017 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, Dayton, Texas. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3pm at Sterling Funeral Home. Interment will be private and held at a later date.
