Bernice Lummus

Bernice Lummus, 64, of Alvin, Texas passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in Houston, Texas. She was born on April 26, 1952 in Pineville, Louisiana to Henry and Francis Ogle Doherty.

Bernice was a loving and devoted wife, mother, nanny to her grandchildren, sister and friend. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and her grandchildren. Bernice who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Johnny and Billy Doherty; her sister Bobby Merchant; and her great-grandchildren Kynedi and Heidi Crunk; She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 48 years Harold Lummus;  her daughter Sherry Stephens and husband Jim of Dayton; her sons Terry Lummus and wife Wendy of Alvin and Tony Lummus of Enid, Oklahoma; her grandchildren Ashley Green and husband John, Melanie Crunk and husband Josh, Kelsey Lummus, Chelsey Lummus, Presley Lummus, Tyler Lummus and Taylor Lummus; her great-grandchildren Tyler and Hunter Green, Blakelee Prince, Bristol Green, Mason Crunk and Emerson Lummus; her brothers Louis Doherty and wife Patricia, Rodney Doherty and wife Anita and Keith Doherty; her sisters Macy Powell, Sarah George, Doris George and husband Burley and Carolyn Rogers and husband Buddy; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4pm until 6pm on Friday, April 7, 2017 in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, Dayton, Texas. A celebration of Bernice’s life will be held at 10am on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Sterling Funeral Home. A private interment will be held in Palms Memorial Park in Dayton, Texas.
