EUGENE DELANEY
HOOP ‘N HOLLER – Eugene Delaney, 86, of Rye, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Eugene Delaney was born on September 28, 1923 in Baldknob, AR to the late Frank and Clara (Biraum) Delaney. He grew up during the great depression and was a talkative individual who loved to regale others with stories. Eugene was also a nice, cheerful, upbeat, generous individual who was good to everyone. If one was in need, all they had to do was ask and Eugene was there to help. Over his lifetime he worked in a lumber mill, was a logger, a mechanic, a wood carver and artist. He carved many life size statues people could buy. Eugene will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him/
Also preceding him in death were his brother, Ralph Gallagher; and sister, Lucille Taylor.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Frances (Alsup) Delaney of Hoop n’ Holler; sons, Pat Delaney and wife, Karen of Hoop ‘n Holler Paul Delaney and wife, Cheryl of Cedar Park; grandchildren, Keith, Jennifer, Kathryn, Theresa and Patrick Delaney; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty and Geraldine Delaney.
Graveside services were at two o’clock in the afternoon, Friday, February 19, 2010 at Magnolia Park Cemetery with Father Jim McClintock presiding.
