Elmer Carl Lewis

Elmer Carl Lewis, age 81 of Huffman, passed away July 23, 2014 in Huffman, TX.  Elmer was born July 18, 1933 in Houston, TX, son of the late Elmer and Florine Ashford Lewis.  He graduate from Sam Houston High School and then entered into the U.S. Air Force in April of 1953 and served four years until April of 1957.  Elmer was the owner and operator of the Lumberjack Shack.  He was a member of the Lions Club and enjoyed fishing and crabbing in his early years.  Elmer always had a yearly garden and was proud of his homemade jelly.  Elmer and his late wife, Joyce, loved to travel and loved taking cruises.  But mostly, Elmer loved his children and family.  He will be missed by all.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, and wife; Joyce Lewis.  He leaves behind to cherish his memory, son; Phillip Lewis and wife Natalie of Crosby, daughters; Carla Wolf and husband Fred of Huffman, Karen Newby and husband Mike of Huffman, brother; Robert Lewis and wife Margaret of Huffman, grandchildren; Lindsey Sanne, Maci Lewis, Nolan Lewis, Kaitlyn Lewis, Famen Wolf, great-grandchildren; Kiley Collier and Kalen Pizzano.
Services for Elmer Carl Lewis will be Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 10am at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 North Main, Dayton, TX with burial to follow at Huffman Cemetery in Huffman.  Visitation will be Friday, July 25, 2014 from 5pm to 7pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Condolences can be sent online to www.sterlingfuneralhome.com.
